Mommy Makeover Trend Gaining Popularity

Have you heard of the latest makeover trend for moms, mommy makeovers? The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) says that women’s attitudes towards cosmetic surgery are changing, driving the trend to make over their bodies.

A mommy makeover typically includes a combination of procedures to reshape certain areas of the body, like the tummy and chest.  Tummy tucks, breast lifts, and breast implants are becoming increasingly popular as ways to restore women’s bodies to their pre-pregnancy state. Tightening the abdominal region and lifting the breasts can dramatically improve a woman’s sense of self-worth and confidence.

When diet and exercise have done all they can to reduce belly fat and improve the appearance of sagging skin, a mommy makeover can treat the stubborn areas quickly and safely.

Stretch marks and excess skin are nearly impossible to eliminate without cosmetic surgery. A mommy makeover can eliminate your frustration from body changes such as breast sagging or loss of volume from pregnancy and nursing. Women who have lost a lot of weight can also benefit from reshaping procedures when the weight loss has led to loose skin.

Who can have a mommy makeover?

Any woman who is in otherwise good health and has finished bearing children is a candidate for a mommy makeover.

Before considering a mommy makeover, here is what you should know:

  • Your weight should be stable before you have your procedure(s). If you plan on losing any more weight, it should be done before a mommy makeover, as weight gain or loss can alter your results.

  • After surgery, most women are able to go home the same day. Recovery time is a few weeks.

  • Scarring is very minimal, and your doctor will show you how to treat post-op scars so that no one will ever know you had surgery.

  • Risks associated with mommy makeovers are also minimal. These include bleeding and infections, just like any surgical procedure.

Talk to your plastic surgeon to determine how a mommy makeover can help you boost self-confidence with a slimmer, younger-looking body.
